No Steve Smith in PSL 10
As the dates for the PSL 10 draft are being finalized, the names of foreign players registered for the draft are being announced gradually. Before the PSL draft, there were speculations that big Australian players like Steve Smith would be part of PSL 10. However, among the players announced so far, Steve Smith is not mentioned.
Only Usman Khawaja from Australia has been registered for the PSL 10 draft so far. Along with him, England’s David Willey, Jason Roy, and Tom Curran have also been announced as part of the PSL 10 draft. However, there has been no announcement regarding Steve Smith.
It is possible that Steve Smith did not apply for the PSL draft, but all PSL franchises are likely trying their best to sign big players like him. In a recent meeting, PCB decided franchises could directly approach such big players, pay a set amount, and include them in their teams without going through the draft. This suggests that a franchise might already have signed Steve Smith for their team. If this is the case, Steve Smith will not be visible in the PSL 10 draft and might directly play for a team in the league.
Whether or not Steve Smith will be part of PSL 10 will only become clear with time. However, PSL and PCB are making every effort to include a player of Steve Smith’s caliber to enhance the league’s reputation. PCB had reportedly reached out to him earlier, but there has been no official statement from PCB on this matter.
Steve Smith’s Performance in Other Leagues
If we talk about Steve Smith, he has never played in the PSL before but has been a regular in the IPL. In the IPL, he is known as a top-order batsman and a strong leader. His batting average is 34.5, and he is known for building innings, especially after early wickets. Whenever Smith is seen staying on the pitch, he focuses on constructing innings and contributing significantly, either setting a big score or playing a vital role in defending it.
Having Steve Smith in the PSL would be a massive achievement for the league. While there has been no official news from sources about his participation in PSL 10, the chances are high that Steve Smith has already been signed by a team and will play the entire tournament directly for them.
