PCB Introduces Strict Bidding Fee Rule for New PSL Franchises

The PCB has introduced a strict bidding fee system ahead of the auction for two new PSL franchises scheduled for January. The move aims to filter out non-serious participants and ensure that only genuine investors enter the bidding process.

According to the new rule, any party wishing to take part in the auction must pay a bidding fee of 2,20,000 USD. Out of this amount, 2,00,000 USD is refundable after the auction ends, while 20,000 USD is non-refundable and will be kept by the PCB.

The board believes this step will discourage individuals and companies who only want publicity and have no intention of purchasing a team. Reports suggest some companies were planning to enter the auction only to get their names highlighted and create an impression of being major investors. PCB’s fee structure blocks such attempts because paying 20,000 USD simply for attention will not be practical.

PCB will also check all documents and records of every party before allowing them into the process. Officials say the auction will be conducted with full scrutiny and not like an open public event where anyone can walk in.

For now, the bidding process is straightforward. Just pay the fee, pass PCB’s verification, and only then enter the auction. Those seeking publicity without real investment are unlikely to participate under the new rules.
