There has been a lot of buzz and excitement around the match. However, Peshawar Zalmi didn’t have a good start to the season. In their first match, they suffered a heavy defeat against Quetta Gladiators. For Zalmi, Saim Ayub and Babar Azam opened the innings, but the opening partnership collapsed quickly. Babar Azam was dismissed after facing just two deliveries, caught out on a delivery by Mohammad Amir.

On the other hand, Saim Ayub played well and was out after scoring a half-century. Despite his performance, Peshawar struggled to chase the target. Overall, the batting line-up failed miserably in the first match. Only Saim Ayub, Haseebullah Tilak, and Nicholas Pooran managed to score runs, while Mohammad Haris could only score 13 runs, and the rest of the team was dismissed for ducks (0 runs).

It was a very poor start for Peshawar Zalmi. In bowling, too, they conceded 216 runs to Quetta Gladiators and managed to take only three wickets.

Now, Peshawar Zalmi is set to face Islamabad United, who are the defending champions of PSL 9. Talking about Islamabad’s form, they won their first match against Lahore Qalandars quite comfortably. Lahore had set a target of 139 runs after losing all ten wickets, thanks to United’s excellent bowling. Islamabad chased the target in 18 overs, losing just 2 wickets, with four balls to spare.

This shows how strong Islamabad United’s bowling unit is. In batting, Sahibzada Farhan and Andreas Gous came in to open but were dismissed early. However, Sahibzada Farhan held his ground and was supported by Colin Munro, who scored a brilliant fifty. Agha Salman also contributed well to the team’s chase.

Islamabad United has shown great form after winning their opening match, whereas most of the players in the Peshawar Zalmi squad were dismissed without scoring.

Today’s match will be held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, which is known to be a batting-friendly pitch, so both teams are expected to benefit equally. Since both teams have strong batting line-ups, it could be a high-scoring and competitive game.

If Babar Azam finds his rhythm today, he could help Zalmi post a solid total. Like always, the team that wins the toss is expected to opt for bowling first, as chasing targets has become relatively easier in the current PSL due to pitch conditions.

So, today’s match is expected to be very exciting, and we’ll see which team and which players prove to be the toughest on the field.
