PSL Team Owners express Concerns over PSL 10 clash with IPL

The owners of PSL cricket teams have raised some questions with the PCB regarding the upcoming tournament. As you know, PSL Season 10, which is usually played in February and March, is typically announced in December. However, the PSL will not follow its usual schedule due to the ICC Champions Trophy this year. The PCB has hinted that the Pakistan Super League might be held in April instead, but no exact dates have been announced yet.

The primary reason for this delay is the potential clash between the IPL and PSL schedules. This year, Pakistan is set to host the ICC Champions Trophy, which has caused significant adjustments to the PSL calendar. Salman Naseer has been appointed as the Head of Affairs for the tournament, a decision that all team owners have welcomed and congratulated him on the role. They also questioned the PSL’s plans, as the PCB seems fully occupied with preparations for the Champions Trophy.

Another critical issue is the overlap of dates between the IPL and PSL. If both leagues are scheduled simultaneously, it could impact the availability of star players. The IPL, with its lucrative contracts, is likely to attract many high-profile cricketers, leaving fewer big names available for the PSL. This could have a noticeable effect on the league’s quality and viewership.

Due to these complications, the PCB has yet to announce the PSL 10 draft or the schedule. According to reports, the draft might take place in Saudi Arabia, where the PCB will finalize the roster after ensuring the participation of players not involved in the IPL. Once this process is complete, the PSL will move forward with its planning and execution.
