Lahore Qalandars Player Development Program

Officials explained that the Lahore Qalandars Player Development Program (PDP) is the main entry point for all aspiring cricketers. The program has held trials in 25 cities across Pakistan, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Shaheedabad, Sukkur and Larkana. More than 300,000 boys and girls have participated, making it one of the largest talent hunts in the country.

During the trials, thousands of young cricketers showcase their skills. In Hyderabad alone, nearly 12,000 to 15,000 players appeared. Qalandars officials said their goal is to provide opportunities not only to players from major cities but also to those from smaller towns who have no other platform.

Players selected from trials move into provincial teams representing Sindh, Punjab, KP, Gilgit Baltistan and Balochistan. These teams compete in national-level tournaments such as the ongoing event in Islamabad. From there, the top 15 boys and girls are chosen for the High Performance Centre.

At the High Performance Centre, players receive professional coaching, training, fitness support and international exposure. Selected talent also travels to England and Australia to play competitive cricket. Many players who rose through the Qalandars system have gone on to represent the PSL team and, eventually, the national side.

The franchise says its 10-year development journey has already produced a strong talent pipeline. When senior players were rested, PDP graduates stepped up, proving the system’s success.
