Hyderabad Stadium to Host PSL 11 and International Matches
The PCB has approved hosting PSL 11 and international matches at the newly built stadium in the interior of Sindh, pending a formal handover from local authorities.
PCB Director Domestic Khurram Niazi visited the venue and said that once the Mayor of Hyderabad signs the agreement to transfer the stadium to PCB, work will begin to upgrade it to international standards.
Niazi said the stadium’s condition has improved, and the installation of lights is complete. He added that top first class cricket, including the four day format, will be restored first, followed by PSL matches. He expects that once PSL games are held, the venue will gradually progress toward hosting international cricket.
Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad holds a special history, with Pakistan remaining unbeaten at the venue. Pakistan last played there in January 2008, defeating Zimbabwe and maintaining the record. Mayor Kashif Shoro has assured PCB that the stadium will be handed over.
He said efforts will be made to host President’s Trophy matches in December so that fans can enjoy cricket and local players get opportunities.
Fans believe that PCB can upgrade Niaz Stadium to international standards and reopen doors for major cricket events if serious and practical steps are taken.
