IPL Brand Value Drops 20 Percent as PSL Gains Global Interest
While the IPL has recorded a sharp decline in brand value, the PSL is moving in the opposite direction.
Indian media reports indicate that the IPL’s brand value dropped by 20 percent in 2025, falling from $ 12 billion to $ 9.6 billion. Major franchises were also affected, with the Mumbai Indians down 9 percent, the Royal Challengers 10 percent, the Chennai Super Kings 24 percent, the Sunrisers Hyderabad 34 percent and the Rajasthan Royals 35 percent.
In contrast, PSL is currently expanding. PCB has extended the bidding deadline for new PSL teams due to strong international investor interest from the Middle East, Europe and the United States. PSL is preparing to add new franchises, holding international roadshows and attracting overseas players.
The comparison highlights a clear contrast, with IPL facing declining valuations and PSL gaining momentum through expansion and growing global interest.
