PSL Offers Rs 850 Million Central Pool Guarantee to New Teams

The PCB has offered a PKR 8.5 billion minimum income guarantee to the two new teams set to join the PSL from PSL 11.

According to PCB officials, the guarantee applies only to the seventh and eighth teams and will cover the next five editions starting from PSL 11. The offer has been termed the minimum central pool income guarantee. If a new franchise’s share from the central pool falls below PKR 8.5 billion in any season during this period, the shortfall will either be covered by PCB or adjusted in the franchise fee for the following season.

PCB sources said that in most cases, teams’ earnings from the central pool exceed PKR 8.5 billion, making the guarantee a safety measure for new investors. The existing five franchises are not included in this offer, and some team officials have stated that no such guarantee was ever extended to them.
