The Quetta Gladiators team is owned by Nadeem Omar, the owner of Omar Associates Group. He purchased the franchise in 2015, when the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was about to begin. The franchise was bought by Nadeem Omar for $11 million under a 10-year contract, which is set to expire in December 2025.
After the contract expires, the team’s valuation will be reassessed, and a new agreement will be signed based on that valuation. It is expected that Nadeem Omar will continue as the owner of Quetta Gladiators under the new valuation and extend his ownership for the next 10 seasons.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already begun preparations for the PSL 11 draft, and the team valuation process is also being finalized. According to PCB officials, the valuation process for all franchises will be completed by December, after which the new valuations will be shared with all franchise owners. During Quetta Gladiators’ 10-year journey, a total of four players have captained the team. From 2016 to 2023, Sarfaraz Ahmed led Quetta Gladiators as the main captain. Under his leadership, the team played 80 matches, winning 38 and losing 41.
In 2023, Mohammad Nawaz was given the captaincy for a few matches, during which he led the team in 2 games, winning 1 and losing 1.
After that, Rilee Rossouw took over as captain for one season, leading the team in 10 matches, winning 5 and losing 5.
Currently, Saud Shakeel is leading the team. Talking about his performance, he has captained 12 matches, winning 8 and losing 3 (with one match possibly ending in no result). The Quetta Gladiators have assembled an impressive coaching staff featuring some of the biggest names in cricket. The most notable change this season is the appointment of Sarfaraz Ahmed as the head coach, replacing Moin Khan, who previously held the position. Moin Khan has now been appointed as the team manager.
The team’s current bowling coach is Umar Gul, while the mentor of the side is none other than the legendary Sir Vivian Richards. With such experienced and high-profile figures as part of the coaching setup, it’s no surprise that the Quetta Gladiators continue to perform at a top level.
