What will be the future of Multan Sultans in PSL?
The delay in finalizing the future of Multan Sultans is directly linked to the expiry of franchise agreements with the Pakistan Cricket Board on 31 December 2025. According to sources, PCB avoided holding formal negotiations with Multan Sultans before this date because it could have created legal complications while the agreement was still active. Once the agreement expires, the entitlement attached to it will no longer exist, allowing PCB to move forward without legal risk.
After 31 December 2025, Multan Sultans’ contract with PCB will officially end. If the franchise wishes to regain ownership, it is expected to cost around 1.35 billion rupees under the new valuation framework. This has created uncertainty over whether Multan Sultans will continue as the sixth team or whether a new seventh team will enter the league as part of PSL expansion.
