Ali Tareen Paid More Than HBL, Yet Faces Unfair Treatment from PCB

As soon as HBL was announced as the title sponsor, the way PSL officials presented the news at the press conference made it clear they were very happy about it. The amount HBL is paying to the PCB is huge, which is why PSL officials are giving significant attention to HBL’s sponsorship.

If we say that the PCB’s behavior towards Ali Tareen is biased or unfair compared to HBL, it would not be wrong. Looking at both HBL and Ali Tareen, in the last seven years, Ali Tareen has paid $44.5 million to the PCB, while HBL has paid $36.50 million. If HBL is being given so much importance, then Ali Tareen also deserves to be heard after paying such a large amount.

It should be remembered that the most expensive team in HBL PSL was purchased by Ali Tareen, whose price was double that of the second-highest franchise. The payments are split equally, so Multan Sultans get no extra benefit. In fact, the franchise pays even more to the PCB. Therefore, wouldn’t it be fair for Ali Tareen’s concerns to be heard? Whether or not action is taken afterward is another matter, but at least his point of view should be listened to, rather than showing such behavior that creates anger and resentment among PSL fans.

Moreover, if we look at the last season from the PCB’s side, we saw a poor display of management. This is not just on paper, all cricket fans witnessed how the PSL 10 ceremony was conducted, where the microphone kept turning off every five minutes, and the event was poorly organized. Everyone saw this. If someone criticizes it, they should not be considered wrong.

Instead of listening to Ali Tareen, who genuinely wants to improve the PSL, the PCB is trying to silence him by exerting pressure. The person who is paying the most in PSL deserves better treatment from the PCB. We hope that since Ali Tareen has sent a letter to Mohsin Naqvi, Mr. Naqvi will review it carefully.
