PSL 11 Players Categories
| Category | Salary Range in PKR |
|---|---|
| Marquee | 9.87 Crore – 11.28 Crore |
| Platinum | 3.67 Crore – 4.79 Crore |
| Diamond | 1.69 Crore – 2.40 Crore |
| Gold | 1.13 Crore – 1.48 Crore |
| Silver | 42 Lakh – 71 Lakh |
| Emerging | 14 Lakh – 21 Lakh |
| Supplementary | 28 Lakh |
Players are divided into different categories depending on various factors like their experience, form, popularity, performance, etc. These categories in PSL are as follows:
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Gold
- Silver
- Emerging
- Supplementary
Platinum players have the highest salary packages in PSL while the Emerging players have the lowest. Platinum players are the best of the best, the cream of the crop. However, that doesn’t mean that the lower categories are any less.
We have seen silver players turn the tide of the games in the previous seasons while the higher category players played a role as a “side character.”
However, the emerging category is pretty interesting. These are youngsters from Pakistan’s domestic circuit who get crucial exposure by playing with international team players. This is the best way to groom players for the future. Pakistan’s national team is full of players from PSL.
The supplementary category, however, is of those players who are there as replacements. If any player in the team gets injured, the franchise can fill the gap with a supplementary player.

PSL Draft 2026 Foreign Players List
The 11th season of the PSL is about to begin, and with each passing season, the league’s popularity continues to grow. The biggest reason for this rise is the increasing attraction of top-tier and world-class players toward the PSL, even when other leagues are being held during the same period. This clearly reflects that the PSL is a high-quality cricket league.
Following the T20 World Cup this year, the PSL’s schedule once again had to be adjusted, just like last year, resulting in the PSL and rival leagues being played around the same time. How do drafts usually take place?
Drafts can be tricky for people who are watching them for the first time. They can even be tricky for the team management. Hence, they hire people specially so that they can guide them about the draft rules each year.
Note: Here is a complete Guide to PSL Draft Rules
But you won’t have to hire anybody, we are here with you! Here’s a short guide about how these drafts usually take place each year. Consider these basics.
- Firstly, each team announces its retentions from the previous years. These players will not be a part of the draft. However, teams have to drop some players who are made available for the picks in the upcoming draft.
- Then, PCB announces the players’ list and their categories. They also announce pick orders before the drafts. Teams plan their picks for the drafts accordingly.
- For each category, there can be multiple rounds. As per the pick order, the teams choose their players.
- TWIST: Teams also have limited options to revoke any team’s pick if that player was in their franchise last year. This happens when that franchise had dropped that player, but was planning to re-pick them. However, this can cost them their turn for the round.
- Teams can also trade their pick orders if they trade players with each other before the draft.
This is how these trades usually happen.
