PSL 11 – Stakeholders meet to discuss PSL 11 Future Plans
Today, a virtual meeting was held between PSL stakeholders, franchise owners, and PSL officials. The meeting focused on discussing the plans of the PSL 11, evaluating franchise valuations, and determining the best window to schedule the next PSL season.
During the meeting, all stakeholders and officials shared their opinions; however, no final decision was made. It was agreed that another follow-up virtual meeting would be held later this week, where discussions will continue in order to reach a concrete conclusion.
The next meeting will specifically focus on brand valuation, the PSL 11 draft, and deciding the tournament window.
The main challenge is that if the PSL is scheduled after the ICC World Cup, it could clash with the IPL, which would negatively affect both leagues in terms of viewership and revenue. Therefore, it would be better for both tournaments to be held during different time windows.
However, due to the timing of the upcoming World Cup, there is a strong possibility that PSL 11 and IPL might overlap. The PCB is expected to announce an important update in the next meeting, but as of today’s discussion, no major decision has been finalized.
