Two New Teams to be Introduced in PSL 11

Two New Teams to be Introduced in PSL 11

Let’s talk about two teams that truly deserve to be in PSL 11,. As you all know, Salman, the CEO of the Pakistan Super League, recently said that PSL 11 will feature 8 teams, which means two new franchises will be added.

Let’s talk about the two teams that deserve to be part of PSL 11.

1. Sialkot Superstars

Sialkot is considered the cricket hub of Pakistan, famous worldwide for its cricket equipment manufacturing. Players from Sialkot, such as Shoaib Malik and Haris Rauf, have already shone in the PSL.

If we talk about fanbase, Sialkot has a large and passionate cricket following. The Jinnah Stadium Sialkot already hosts domestic matches and could be upgraded for PSL. The city has always produced a strong domestic team, and not having a Sialkot-based franchise in PSL would be a huge gap.

Emerging players like Haris and Usman Shinwari can help promote local talent through a team like Sialkot Superstars, which clearly deserves a spot in PSL 11.

2. Hyderabad Heroes

Hyderabad, Sindh’s second largest city, is an untapped cricket market. The new stadium in Hyderabad is already used for domestic matches and could be upgraded for PSL. Recently, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited Hyderabad and discussed fast-tracking the stadium’s completion.

Hyderabad is the only major city in Sindh not yet represented in the PSL, whereas Karachi Kings already represent the province. Including Hyderabad would help engage fans from interior Sindh, expanding PSL’s reach.

During the bidding for the 6th PSL team (which eventually became Multan Sultans), Hyderabad was also shortlisted. This shows that PCB seriously considered Hyderabad back then and might do so again.

And you might ask which big player has come from Hyderabad? Well, the answer is Sharjeel Khan, a superstar who hails from Hyderabad and made it to the national team from there.

Cities That Deserve a Team in PSL

Besides Sialkot and Hyderabad, the names of Faisalabad, Mardan, and Mirpur Khas are also being discussed.

1- Faisalabad is a major city in Punjab with a large fan base and was also shortlisted by PCB. However, Sialkot’s cricket legacy and fan base are slightly stronger.

2- Mardan was suggested by fans as it would provide another Khyber Pakhtunkhwa representation, besides the Peshawar Zalmi. But the city’s infrastructure and fanbase are currently not on par with Sialkot or Hyderabad.

3- Mirpur Khas, another city in Sindh, has less cricket infrastructure and popularity compared to Hyderabad.

So, when it comes to truly deserving teams, the top three are Sialkot, Hyderabad, and Faisalabad but especially Sialkot and Hyderabad, as they already have existing stadiums (Jinnah Stadium and Niaz Cricket Stadium) that can be upgraded for PSL. Unlike Mardan, where infrastructure is still developing, these two cities are ready.
